North Devon Wildlife
I don't really class myself as a wildlife photographer at all, I just don't have the patience. So, instead I'll rely on chance encounters and if I see a great picture, I'll try and get it. Of course, in North Devon we're spoilt for choice of wildlife, so I've managed to collect a few beautiful images.
December 2017 - This high part of Exmoor often get snow even when other parts of North Devon don’t. These famous ponies can be seen roaming around the moor and as you can see in this picture, their beautiful colour closely matches the colour of the moorland around them. On this crispy cold day just after Christmas, the snow was thawing after being on the ground for about a week.
February 2019 - A rare snowy scene at Watersmeet. It’s well know for all the little birds that fly between tables grabbing treats when the house is open. I went deliberately to take the birds some food as the ground had been covered by snow for a few days and the house was on a winter break. This Robin was really tame and came close allowing me to get a really nice clear picture on the rope.
July 2019 - There’s an amazing array of sea birds off the North Devon and Exmoor coast including gorgeous Razorbills and Guillemots. This picture was taken whilst on a late evening trip with Ilfracombe Sea Safari. As the sun set, Guillemots on the ledge to the left were launching themselves into the light. This picture captures two birds just launching into flight as the others looked on.
